A TradeZella alternative at $9.99 a month
Both journal your trades and both backtest bar by bar. The difference is what it costs to find out whether you like it.
TradeZella is a good product and this page will not pretend otherwise. It has broad US broker coverage, a large report library and AI features, and if you trade equities and futures through a US broker it is a reasonable choice.
What it did not have when this page was last checked in August 2026 is a free plan. Its entry tier is $35 a month, which means the only way to learn whether a journal fits how you actually trade is to pay for a month first.

The backtester is not a paid-tier teaser
Rewind the chart to any date in its history, hide everything that came after it, and trade forward one candle at a time with a real order ticket — lots, leverage, margin, stop and target.
Results are written to a separate backtest account, so they never contaminate your live statistics.

Built for MetaTrader, not adapted to it
The sync runs as an expert advisor inside your own terminal, so it works at any MT4 or MT5 broker rather than only the ones on a supported list. Interactive Brokers syncs through a read-only Flex report token.
Read-only throughout: the connection sees trade history and open positions and cannot place, modify or close an order. Your broker password is never stored.
- 430+ named MetaTrader brokers, and any one not on the list still works
- Prop-firm rules tracked with a daily-loss and drawdown circuit breaker
- Forex, indices, metals, crypto, stocks, options and futures

Where TradeZella is ahead
It has been around far longer, so it has a large user base, published reviews and a deeper library of reports. Its US equities and futures broker coverage is broader than ours. If you trade US stocks through a US broker and want the most established option, that is a real argument and you should weigh it.
TradeAssay is new. What it can offer against that is that you can test the whole product — including whether the sync works with your own broker — without paying anything or entering a card.
Before you switch.
Is TradeAssay cheaper than TradeZella?
Yes. TradeAssay Pro is $9.99/month or $79.99/year. TradeZella's entry tier was $35/month when this page was last checked in August 2026. TradeAssay also has a free plan with no expiry; TradeZella did not offer one.
Does the free plan expire?
No. There is no trial clock and no card required. Manual entry, file import, the trade list, calendar, daily journal, core reports and unlimited trading accounts stay free indefinitely. The backtester, AI coach and prop-firm tracking are the Pro features.
Can I import my TradeZella history?
Yes, by CSV. Export your trades from TradeZella, drop the file into TradeAssay, and preview exactly what will be created before anything is saved.
Is the backtest data real?
Yes — real historical market prices across forex, metals, indices, stocks, futures and crypto, on every timeframe from one minute to one week. How far back it goes depends on the market. It is not simulated price.
